Hello, my book friends! So happy to be back again! I took a little break from blogging this month due to the typical holiday/work stressors. I really needed that time to decompress and I feel like I got that time. Although I am still feeling incredibly guilty with taking off two weeks from blogging I was at a place where I just felt so stagnant! I just felt that I didn’t really have anything worthwhile to read about or write about at the moment. I was just sort of depleted. I feel that maybe many people experience this feeling of depletion during the holidays. This is why sometimes it’s important to push ourselves past the stagnation to get out of the funk. Truth be told I am now pushing myself to get myself out of my overall funk at the moment and I know the more I do it the better it will feel.
AND NOW BACK TO HAPPY THOUGHTS AND MY FAVORITE BOOK LIST OF 2017!
Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon
When I read this book, it was one of the books that I just flew through! I love the graphics of the book, the language is so beautifully poetic, and Ollie was such an adorable character that I plan to name my future son after Ollie! Read my book review of Everything, Everything here
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before Series by Jenny Han
After meeting Jenny Han at my favorite bookstore I promised myself that I would read her books and I am sooo deliriously happy that I read all her books! My love for these books revolves mainly around the character of Lara Jean and all I want to do is be her best friend and eat her homemade cookies! The quirkiness of the characters is infectious and the love story of Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky will just make you swoon! Read my book review of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before here.
The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson
Morgan Matson is my summer jam! Morgan Matson’s writing just puts me in the perfect summer mood and this book, in particular, makes me reminisce simpler times when all I had was a summer job with no bills to pay, super cool friends, and an adorable guy to spend the summer with! PS…it doesn’t hurt that the guy in this book is uber hot and a famous fantasy writer! Can you say SCORE?!
More importantly besides super awesome friends and a hot fantasy writer, this book is about the importance of family and it can make a great fathers day read! <3
Why We Broke Up
This book was long overdue for me…seriously! I wanted to read this book about four years ago and I am so happy that I picked it up in the library! I love the “emoness” of the MC Min Green! The way she handled this breakup was just so overly dramatic and so true to how many high school girls out there handle traumatic breakups. She collected many objects of their relationship and some of them exemplify random objects such as a greasy napkin! If you want to get lost in the mind of a teenage girl for a little while this is the book for you! Read my book review about it here.
When I laid eyes on the book Geekerella it was insta-love for me and once I read the synopsis I just had to gobble up this book! And I have to say that I was extremely pleased with this book! This geeky take of Cinderella is like a love letter to fangirls/fanboys everywhere! Read my review about it here.
Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour
My love for Morgan Matson was instantaneous when I picked up SYBG and this was one of the books that I was dying to read for awhile since it’s one of her first feel-good summer books!
This book was such a journey for me and I fell in love with the characters, the scenery, the diners, and the playlist that was created was just pure perfection for a road trip! After reading this book I had Wilco’s California Stars on repeat all week! Read my book review about it here.
Moxie is life! Moxie was everything for me and it’s such a motivational book about female empowerment for all! This book had such a strong message about how society belittles women every day and how we could fight back against the stigma. I loved every minute of this book and I really hope this book inspires every girl to take part of the Moxie movement! RRRiot girl for life! Read my book review about it here.
Turtles All the Way Down
Who doesn’t love a good John Green book?! When I found out he was coming out with a new book and was giving out the signed copy I immediately put in my advance order in Barnes and Noble! I haven’t written a book review of this book yet but I have to say this book was so raw, so real, and such an emotional journey for me! If you suffer from any mental disorders this book really takes you into the mind of someone who is suffering and how frustrating and hopeless it could feel when you can’t get out of your own head! Look for an upcoming book review on this book because I have not gotten over this book and will probably never get over it!
This is the end of my favorite books of 2017!! Are any of these books part of your favorite list for 2017? Please comment below with your favorite books for 2017! Happy New Year book lovies and look forward to sharing my TBR list for 2018!!
