Clueless Night! Girl Gang Movie Night!
So when I found out that they were doing a Clueless movie night yesterday at the O Cinema Wynwood Movie Theatre I just had to “totally pause!”
It was a school night granted…(Teacher problems…) and I knew I would be exhausted the next day but I just couldn’t resist going to see one of the most nostalgic movies of my pre-adolescence!
Clueless had a huge influence on me growing up and I wanted to be just like the eternally optimistic and popular Cher Horowitz! It had such a huge influence on me that I decided to dress like Cher Horowitz the first day of middle school with a pastel blue dress and white knee stockings!
Yeah…it was a horrifying first day of middle school, to say the least since those were the days where kids fashion consisted of Tommy Hilfiger fashion and Nike… yeah didn’t win those popular points in middle school…
After a long week at school, this was the exact kind of night that I needed and I was so giddy because it was actually my first time seeing Clueless in movie theatres! My first time watching it was the summer before my sixth grade year and I remember distinctly renting it with my dad at Blockbuster! (RIP Blockbuster)
It was my first time at O Cinema Wynwood and I love the cozy arthouse movie feel that they have there! O Cinema Wynwood is doing a movie series called the Girl Gang series where they play movies that are played by women and made by women! I cannot wait to go to their next event! They are planning on doing the next movie and Romie and Michelle’s High School Reunion! If that doesn’t sound like the best movie night ever I don’t know what is!
Here are some of my pics of my night in O Cinema Wynwood! The event was just too cute for words! They made a free Clueless-inspired drink dubbed “The Monet”, they had 90’s karaoke, a giveaway, and adorable photo booth props!
90’s Girl Forever!
I still own CD’s! I am a true 90’s girl at heart!
My night was simply “the bomb!” I loved every minute of it! I thought it was hilarious that before the movie began they played some nostalgic clips such as the Golden Girls theme song and what really added to the nostalgia was their random commercial of Nickelodeon magazine! I remember watching the Nickelodeon magazine commercial as a kid on like every commercial break and the sad part is that I could still recite some of the parts after all these years of not watching it! I am not remembering but I am sure at one point they brainwashed me into convincing my parents to buy this subscription!

I will always be a die-hard fan of Clueless! In fact, I am so die-hard that I just recently listened to an Oral History of Clueless on Audible! The book has some very revealing movie trivia and it describes the utter genius of the Clueless creator Amy Heckerling! I just love her spin on the retelling of Emma and how she really depicted the reality of high school in California! She did an amazing job of staying away from sugar coating it into a squeaky clean white bread kind of movie! Clueless will always have a special spot in my heart and one of those movies that will always take me back to an easier time when all that mattered was my friends, the mall, the roller skating rink, Bop magazine, and the latest Goosebumps book!
